Architecture
The advises and designs of Buro Lubbers in the field of architecture are always related to landscape and urbanism. The key question is what a certain landscape and/or urban design implies for the architecture and vice versa. What, for example, are the consequences of altitude levels, soil and vegetation for the floor plans and organisation of buildings? To understand these consequences, Buro Lubbers makes architectural designs of residential clusters or small public utilities, that further charge the landscape-urban design. By navigating between the disciplines of landscape, urbanism and architecture the design concept is continuously reviewed and strengthened, opportunities being optimised.

The exchange between the disciplines is also apparent in the architects’ guidelines (zones, typologies, image,…) formulated by the studio. These guidelines are always based upon the place in order to strengthen the landscape-urban concept. In stead of formulating restrictive architectural rules, the plans are challenging and inspirational. They offer the architect sufficient freedom to design unique buildings. The architects’ guidelines are guarded and if necessary adjusted by participating in quality and supervising teams.

In line with its landscape and urban mission, Buro Lubbers also designs small architectural units, such as for example the Terrace and Look-out Point in Breskens. The landscape base of these projects result into site specific architecture.
